Good day to you all! It's been a minute (again...), but after what seems like an eternity to me, there's finally a new video on the channel!

Moving back to the living room in an attempt to up my movie-watching experience at home, I stumbled over the Ugoos AM6B+, a 5-year-old Android streamer that has been tweaked and tuned by the CoreELEC community to rival Blu-ray in quality.

The work on this video took a lot longer than expected, mostly due to fact-checking and trying to get everything right. My understanding of home theater gear and technicalities isn't as versed, and I wanted to try my best to get everything right. 🤞

I'm certain there are things I got wrong, but I hope the amount is somewhat manageable. Regardless of its factual correctness, I hope the roughly 25 minutes are still enjoyable and informative to watch.

Head on over to YouTube and give it a view, and let me know what your thoughts are! 🙂

Now for some other tidbits and BTS information.

The Production Tweaks Continue

Last time I talked about my attempts at improving the audio, which I've continued to do so in this video as well.

But I've also been trying to do the same for the image quality. For this I bought a new toy to help with that, the Lit Duo 1, a light and color meter.

Getting the white balance and exposure right has been a challenge for years, and mixing 4 different lights from 4 different companies didn't help. After measuring what they actually output and adjusting each (some were off by a lot...), I believe this is the first video where all the shots have a consistent look, both when it comes to the color as well as the exposure.

It's been a lot easier to finalize the grading on every clip at the end of the edit. I've also re-learned how I do exposure and colors in DaVinci Resolve (thanks to the input of a friend) and moved away from using the curves to the HDR color wheels.

I'll leave it up to the comments to see if anyone notices, though. 😅

Three's Company!

Finally, here are some related/unrelated tidbits about what has been going on in the past few weeks on the other side of the cheese:

  1. Lit Duo 1
As mentioned in the little excerpt above, this nifty little gadget has been a new companion and has already proven to be of use. If you have some more thoughts or questions, just hit reply. 🙂
  2. SmallRig RF 20C
I also mentioned last time that I also got an additional light with a gobo attachment to create those nice-looking streaks, which makes the shots a bit more interesting, a bit more organic, if you will. Although I was expecting to like it, I did not expect by how much. Especially for the living room shots in the latest video, it was a huge help to make the scene a bit more interesting.
  3. Old Timer Keyboard
If you follow the Instagram feed/stories, you might have noticed that I went back to the Rama Works U80. Of course I haven't abandoned splits, but I did crave some good old feels recently, and this board always hits right.

Bye!

That's it. 🙂 Thanks for reading! If you have any question just reply, drop a comment or find me on Instagram.

Have a wonderful day and see you soon in the next one, bye! 👋
